Assuming that you are from a 4.0 grade scale high school, there is a huge difference between 4.0 and 4.62 because 4.0 is very obtainable by many while 4.62 is probably one of the top GPAs. If a university rejects you because you got one C, do you even want to attend that university? Obviously that is a rhetorical question since you can't attend a university that doesn't want you. I hope that you are or have applied to enough top universities in the nation where narrow-mindedness won't hurt your chances of a college career.

You wouldn't have a 4.62 as to get above a 4.0 means you have A+, unless your school is on a 5.0 scale. I doubt that that is the reason they rejected her, I got a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale and I was accepted by all 10 schools I applied to, including an ivy league school, in college I had a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and got into 2 of the 4 graduate schools that I applied to. I am carrying a 3.7 in Graduate school,

It's completely up to the school you apply to. She may not have been rejected because of that at all. There are LOTS of reasons people get rejected. And there are LOTS of people with a 4.0 so they have to weed some out.

It's largely dependant on where you're going to school. It might be a good idea to go to a community college first if you're coming straight out of high school, it's much easier to get into a university if you already have your AA/AS degree.

one C is not reason enough to not get into a school. do your best and rock the application essays and do anything you can to stand out. call to check in, reach out to professors at the school, send a video, anything to not make you the 456th kid with the A average and not much else. it'll be ok. you are a smart kid - have fun with it - take risks to catch their attention. at the end of the day, one person remembering you is all you need.

For most universities that is just fine. For the most part universities like anyone with money. But if you are trying to get into Harvard... don't hold your breath.

Depends on the college.
Depends on what course the C was in and why you got it.
However, better than to stress and focus on that one grade, it would probably be better for you to put your energy into working on grades and activities going forward. Don't let that one grade define who you are or where you are going.
