I think you're wrong about Superman not being able to fly faster than the speed of sound. Light is waaaaaay faster than the speed of sound, see below. I doubt anyone would say he's faster than light, that would be silly.
speed of sound = 769.5 mph or 1238 km/h
speed of light = 670,616,629.384 mph
The flash racing superman is like superman racing a normal person?? The Flash is no normal person, there are comic books about the superman vs flash race. Some of these comic books have the races end in a tie. See link below.

There is no dispute to anything that you are stating. However, if you really want to get technical, based on the desired continuity that you chose to begin with Superman was at one time able to only leap tall buildings not fly. It wasn't until Superman's origin story was revamped in the late 40's that he was able to fly.
Also one time Superman was strong enough to moved the earth and other planets, but that was also changed. He also was able to breathe underwater and in outer space, but like so many things in his continuity those things were also changed.
Pertaining to Flash: the world's fastest man, Flash can access, what he calls the "Speed Force", Superman can only use his own super speed. Now it is unknown why Superman can not access this same "Speed Force", but if he could you can only imagine just how face he would be.
Finally, somewhere along the way, the writers and publishers decided to limit Superman's powers because it would not be much of fight if he could do anything. Also if research it carefully, Krytonite wasn't introduced until later in Superman's continuity.

You make some good points, but let me make one. While Flash is faster than Superman, both have the ability to time travel. You would need to go faster than the speed of light to do that.

Actually, Superman was "faster than a speeding bullet". At least on the old TV show. I still get what you're saying though. I mean, if he can reverse the Earth's rotation and all... Anyway, for giving you such a pedantic, douchebaggy answer, I'm going to ask you to please thumb me down now. Much obliged...

Everyone has pretty much stated all my points. And their is no way Superman can beat Flash in a race once he taps into speed force. You really shouldn't base your arguements off movies because they can regurarly be inaccurate and distorted from the actual comic.
