Yah KVM is a hardware you use to connect two or more computers using 1Keyboard, 1Video (Monitor) and 1Mouse.
Is that your goal?

A KVM is somewhat of a switch (not network switch though) that you connect to several machine. Then you connect the Keyboard, Video Display, and Mouse to the KVM.
When you switch the KVM to one PC, all input from the keyboard and mouse go to the target PC while the video output from the target PC goes to the display. When you switch the target PC, input and output goes and come from the new target.
It's similar to manually connecting, the mouse, keyboard, and display to one PC, then shutting down and reconnecting them to the other PC, except now you can do it while both PCs are still on.

Are you talking about a Keyboard /Video /Mouse interface? What would you want a router for that? it is supposed to be connected to 2 or more computers in the same place.

If that is for a machine somewhere else, use VNC.

Be more specific...
