The chances of us encountering life from another planet are very slim. As the article below explains, there simply hasn't been enough time for life to develop elsewhere in the universe to the point where they would be advanced enough to come and find us: http://www.guardian.co.uk/space/article/0,,1993005,00.html

As it says in the story, even if a civilization could propel a probe/satellite at 1,000 times our own capabilities, it would take 10 billion years to explore just 4% of only our galaxy. If you then consider the entire size of the universe, the chances are ridiculously low.

This does not answer your subquestion of there being alien life out there. There is almost certainly life on another planet. Given the number of stars, and the number of planets around them, conditions likely exist where life has developed. (Note: It depends on how broadly you define "life") Whether it is intelligent or not, I can't guess, I don't know the numbers to do the probabilities, but my gut instinct is there is intelligent life out there somewhere. Of course, as I explained above, we will probably never find it (or it find us).

The chance that extraterrestrials exist is virtually 100%.
The chance that we will ever meet one is virtually zero.
The chance that SETI will one day receive a signal from aliens is not very good but we must always try other wise there existence will always be speculative.
Like any other encounter with another race,if aliens came with superior technology we would fight with them and they would probably wipe us out,and then go back home.

Astronomers are starting up to locate planets in different image voltaic platforms the position the situations are reminiscent of those all of us be conscious of that help life. it really is in simple terms accessible that there is smart life obtainable. i imagine it really is an boastful assumption that the Earth is the in person-friendly words life-assisting planet even as the universe is so massive that we in simple terms do no longer be conscious of for particular what's on the market. after all, in the middle a even as, the Church taught that the Earth replaced into the centre of the universe, and that the solar revolved around the Earth. all of us be conscious of now that this isn't the case, because technological information has proved in the different case.

Sooner or later, it's a virtual certainty. And it will have social, theological, political, and legal influences that we can't even begin to imagine.
