I mean in comparison to the whole universe..we are "nothing", so my question is what are we doing here? what is our purpose of even existing on Earth among other galaxies of the universe? why are we here???

Isnt this the Mystery question that nearly everyone would love to know? And so many of us feel the need to make up or subscribe to so many answers when we really dont know!!!My greatest instinct is to LOVE as completely and well as we can - each other, ourselves, the world. To honor how different we are. And to grow as beings, and be strong in our spirits. And that we are here on this beautiful planet the least that we can do is to take good care of this sacred place and protect the wild areas and fragile life forms that cannot speak for themselves.
To heal.
Maybe even to get comfortable with not knowing, with this invisible force of faith.
I dont know, yet if I bet my life on it this is what I would say

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

A baby in the womb of his mother may ask a similar question. What am I doing in this dark and confined environment, in this liquid world in which I am growing?
Besides I don't even know why I am developing eyes, ears, legs and arms if I am not able to use them.
The answer is that they will be useful in the world in which he will be born, the physical world in which we live now.
What happens if he decided and could "not develop" his arms and legs when he was growing in the womb? He would be at a disadvantage here, of course.
The purpose of physical existence is to develop moral virtues, and to put them to the service of others, to the service of mankind. This done at the individual level will lead to the progress, well being peace and security of the whole human race.
For us it will be like developing the organs that will allow us to progress in the future worlds, which are spiritual and not material.
Here are some suggestions for acquiring those virtues.

"Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity. Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face. Be a treasure to the poor, an admonisher to the rich, an answerer of the cry of the needy, a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge. Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech. Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men. Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression. Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive. Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring. Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown to the brow of fidelity, a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind, an ensign of the hosts of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue, a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge, a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom, a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humility

You are here to acclimate the planet for your alien overlords just like the way people use goldfish to acclimate their fishtanks for more expensive fish. You will continue to live and die and build up immunities to millions of diseases and randomly be plucked up and anal probed to check for the proper levels of various bacteria, viruses, elements etc. Once you are at an optimal level the earth will be ready for resettlement. Humans will be allowed to stay, but as pets your lives will never have been more fulfilling. Unfortunately many will have to face euthanasia due to the overpopulation caused by your ever growing immune system. We have caused wars to thin the herd of your more aggressive peoples but alas it hasn't been enough. Many attempts to thin the herd have failed. An example is the introduction of tobacco to weed out people with low levels of carcinogen resistance but unfortunately many of you quit. We need you to start enjoying life; eat red meat, have unprotected sex, do drugs, drive without seat belts. The hardiest ones will survive the weaker ones will die then we won't have to intervene as much and the resettlement can go off sooner and with less fatalities.

Our purpose of being on earth is clear and that is to 'be on earth'...our problem is we keep finding a purpose outside our actions rather than making the actions themselves a purpose, we study to get a degree, or a job, why not study for sake of studying, we should try to see the sense of purpose in each act of ours and that is what makes life so fulfilling...without anything to question.

We have no purpose here. Asking why is assuming quite the position of arrogance. There is no answer, because there is no purpose. The universe does not even suspect our existence. Your life is yours, alone. Build it as you see fit, and create your own purpose.

So far, it seems to destroy it, kill as many things unlike us as possible, to "worship" things (cacti, gods, water, etc), and to pat ourselves on the back.

From the looks of things in the pet section, it's to breed animals as much as possible, with no thought to responsibility, ethics, death, or morality.

Of course, we have the power to change this, but it's so much easier to avoid morality and responsibility. As much as Americans scream about morality and what's right, it's quite scary how narrow that stance is. Be moral and righteous as long as it doesn't affect the bottom line, your comfort, or your wallet. Scary.

to eat, kill our enemies, have sex, reproduce, get killed. restart.

the only thing is in the process we "evolved", and now we ask questions and invented entertainment, philosophy and etc..
Really we have no purpose to exist. There is the sad part about being human, we wonder why.

Sometimes I think it must be easier to be a sheep....
