Im 28 yrs old. I have two children (4& 1) Ive noticed that my periods are clotty. I make it to the washroom just in time. Im not really sure what the cause of this would be and would like to know if anyone else has a similar experience and what was done about it if anything. Thanks in advance

this is pretty common. it is just the lining of the uterus that is coming off thick. My periods have clots too. to protect your panties, wear a liner when it is close to that time of the month. And if you do get it on your underwear then just use a little hydrogen peroxide before washing and it lifts it right up!

hope this helps!

I have this problem a lot and it is, well, totally gross. I dread it. I was concerned so I asked my gyn. He said that clots are just a build up of blood that comes out all at once. He didn't say there was anything that can be done to help the problem. I've had this problem for years and sometimes I kind of flood along with the clots, but I just live with it.
Good luck. Hopefully someone will give you a solution. I'd love to know if you find out what to do about it.

First off, they are not blood clots because that wouldn't be normal. Blood is only a small percentage in our menstrual flow, it's mostly endometrial linings sloughing off our uterus because fertilization or an implantation did not occur. If you feel it with your hands, it stretches whereas a blood clot would easily separate. That answer above stating they are thickened linings from the uterus is correct, and we all experience it.

This happens to lots of women and is not unusual. Some of my periods were like this. Just be sure to have extra pads or tampons on hand with your in case you need them.
