Do you know any reliable webhosts for an e-commerce business?

I'm starting a business that's similar to Amazon but I don't know where to start my website.

If I want to have my own server for my website how much would it cost me (a website that's about the size of Amazon)for both the server and the maintenance?

Is it hard to maintain a website? If in case I want to switch webhosts, is it possible that I could still keep my own website address?

Sorry if I have too many questions.. but thanks in advance!!!

Hosting a large website like Amazon is not done by any hosting service. Amazon owns and maintains there own servers and has a large staff to keep them running.

Now you can start with hosted services and then grow as needed. You can have a dedicated server for just you for about 75-100 bucks per month. That way you are not on a "shared server" and you can install whatever software you really want to run. You might even start off with something like OScommerce (free open source) which many hosting companies pre-install on the servers. (Mine does - yes I host websites)

If you are really serious about becoming the next Amazon you start like any other business. Get a business plan in place and get professional consulting advice from someone who knows the internet - servers, technologies, procedures etc.

If you try starting without these items you will fail just like any business without plans.
