I always say that I'm not intelligent enough to do things..For example, I want to become a doctor, but I always say I'm not quite smart enough..

Is that humbleness?

The reason why I say I'm not smart because I want to be humble..I don't want to be/sound arrogant..I don't like cocky people either.

Is this humbleness? Or am I damaging my self-confidence?

stand up, take hold of the reins, these are sayings that I'm sure you know, how can you say you are not smart enough?
have confidence in yourself, believe in god, through prayer and honest work you can achieve anything you desire, go ahead, apply for school, you can do it, and when you get your doctorate, if the world doesn't change you, you can help the needy and the downtrodden with your skills, that's being humble, helping others and expecting nothing in return, except gods love, and in doing so , you will inspire many.

Being humble means admitting your weaknesses & not boasting arrogantly about your strengths, just quietly enjoying them. What you are doing however is putting yourself down & doubting yourself. That's not good! You have to love yourself. Putting yourself down isn't being humble it's being self-loathing. You are smart enough. Don't hold yourself back because you don't want to sound arrogant. There are many intelligent people, many doctors & other successful professionals who aren't arrogant. Just treat yourself & others with respect & you can't go wrong. Confident isn't cocky. There's a difference. Truly confident people aren't arrogant or cocky in fact that sort of act is just to mask their own insecurities.

Good luck.

No, its lack of self confidence and belief. Here is quote about humility or being humble from Wikipedia:

"Humility is a quality or characteristic ascribed to a person who is considered to be humble. A humble person is generally thought to be unpretentious and modest: someone who does not think that he or she is better or more important than others. The concept of humility in various religions is often much more precise and extensive. Humility is not to be confused with humiliation, which is the act of making someone else feel ashamed, and is something completely different."

It's not being humble. It's lack of confidence and probably a low self esteem and is keeping you from achieving your dream, and maximizing your potential. Read, if you can, any one of Dr. Myles Munreo's books. They are religious but equally motovational. You can find them online at: www.bahamasministry.com or something like that.
