They are in the Weakest division by far in my opinion. They are a combinding 19-5-2 vs. ST.L, Chi, and Columbus, do the math against the rest of the league. Detriot, just kick their a_sses in a home-and-home serious. Forsberg, I think was a bust,(just ask the Flyers),and is still not 100%. I could easily see them vulnerable to a 1st round upset.

you can not possibly look at the record that this team has achieved in the season and then look at the competition and think this team is overrated. their record in and of itself is a big time accomplishment. they also have more depth than teams they are compared to, ie: Detroit. Detroit has always had good teams but will not end up with a better record than the Preds.

Also, look at the attention they get. Nashville could care less about them. There is even talk of moving the team since the city is isn't even interested in having one of the top teams in the NHL. How can we say a team with little popularity and a dismal following that is sitting in the top seed in the conference is getting too much respect. If anything, they get too little.

Some key acquisitions and upgrades of playoff savy veterans like Jason Arnott and Peter Forsberg are going to go a long way... lest we forget Paul Kariya and Steve Sullivan.
How about Dave Legwand who is just coming into his prime and easily one of the leagues top skaters. JP Dumont (another upgrade for the preds) with Hartnell, Erat, Tootoo, Hordichuk... let's face it - this team could roll over anyone... just b/c they haven't yet doesnt mean they can't.

Also the Preds have something that a lot of teams don't, depth at the blue line...
Defencemen
# Player Shoots Acquired Place of Birth
2 Dan Hamhuis
3 Marek Zidlicky
4 Vitaly Vishnevski - the OTHER big acquistion (trade deadline)
5 Greg Zanon
6 Shea Weber
20 Ryan Suter
44 Kimmo Timonen - he wears the big C for a reason.
.. the rest speak for themselves..

this team can beat you in every way
AND with both goalies (both had been league leaders when the other was injured... )

this team is just deep...
deeper than any bench in the NHL.
if they won't go deep in the playoffs this year.
well, they sure will next year.

they were #1 without forsberg and vishnevski ... consider that for a second...
they don't even NEED forsberg..
he's just an added threat.
not many teams could even say that.

and what is detroits big rental?
todd bertuzzi??
have fun paying his huge salary while he sits on the injured list wings... nice choice.

i imagine they are. we do not listen a lot about them because their way down on the bottom of us of a yet they are. This crew made the playoffs very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, and they do have expertise. Shea Weber and Ryan Suter are taking area in nicely on their blueline, and newcomer goalie Anders Lindback hasn't lost a sport in regulation yet. They do have offensive guns like Steve Sullivan who's taking area in tremendous, JP Dumont, Legwand, Matthew Lombardi, Martin Erat, Patric Hornqvist, and Cal O'reilly feels like a really strong youthful gun. beware of the Predators this season, anticipate them to make the playoffs in the 5-6 seed.

I have trouble saying the team with nearly the best record in hockey or getting as little media attention as they have is "overrated".

But the team lacks playoff experience, has yet to win a playoff series, and indeed could very vulnerable to an upset.

Yeah I think Nash and Detroit are very overrated and neither will bring home Stanley, they are in the worst div in hockey that is why their point totals have them at the top of the league.

Seriously they can't Handle the Red Wings Back to back loss to them and the Ducks, Penguins would them too, so that Means the Predators are Overrated and that's sad.

Too hard to predict hockey. They are still developing and doing so very well. They could upset a powerhouse just as easily as them being upset.

Their defense is a bit young also.
