I have two laptops at home, different model. They both connect to the same router (linksys) and they both detect the signal and the status is connected. My problem is that one of the laptops that says connected, does not really connect. It gives me page cannot be displayed. I have the settings in automatically connect to the signal in range and it detects IP and DNS automatically. This laptop was working fine and I used my recovery CD to make sure the harware was properly installed. The problem persists. My other laptop is working just fine, with the same settings in place. Please help me figure it out.

Did you turn on the encryption on your router? If yes then probably you forgot to put the encryption key on one of the laptop. Make sure also you're accessing the right network SSID, and right channel.

Seems like you have signal, just not accessing the router correctly.

you should format the machine...
or go threw the settings in both your laptop & the router
after you done that or if you didn't

click repair connection from the connection icon in the taskbar

hope that helps

Sounds like you may have to "repair connection" or reconfigure your laptop's network card.
