Might just be low on trans fluid if it is an automatic.
If not, it might need to have the filter changed. If it plugs up, the pump can't pull the fluid into the transmission and it sucks air, and won't move the Jeep.

If you have a manual sounds like the clutch is out. If an automatic then the transmission is shot. Time for another one. Now what you can do is do a transmission oil change. This will run some money since you did not state like all the dummies, WHAT YEAR and model of vehicle. If after the transmission oil change your vehicle will still not move then you will need to get another transmission. Get a milk jug to save the tranny oil and the filter and the gasket. You can reuse it on the old one you get from the junk yard.

If its automatic then you probably have a broken drive belt for the foreward gears, this happened to my 1976 f-100, if it's a manual it could be a damaged shift fork, try taking off in second or even third gear and see what id does then. Good luck my friend.

all the trans solutions are taken, so yet another advice, in spite of the shown fact that no longer likely (yet i've got quite seen it before), examine your brake calipers and make certain they are nevertheless bolted in. i've got seen the suitable caliper bolt come out and reason a damn noise before inflicting the automobile to be motionless, then fall forward, locking up a wheel.. like I mentioned, no longer likely, yet well worth throwing in there..

There is not much to do here for you. Your transmission needs a rebuild.
You will end towing your vehicle to a workshop for a transmission swap.

you didn't mention if it was a manual or automatic trans.
If it's an automatic trans I'd check the trans fluid level first.
Manual, check your clutch and pressure plate, could be a blown clutch.
