You have to keep in mind with those early days, losses were only recognized when it suited the promoters to do so. Moolah did not go undefeated for 28 years; she won and lost that title several times during that timespan. However, it was the NWA Women's Title at the time, and when Vince McMahon purchased it and her (contractually) it was decided to do a little revisionist history. This is not unlike how the first WWWF champion was crowned; Buddy Rogers challenged for Lou Thesz' NWA world title on January 24, 1963 and lost, but promoters in the Northeast refused to recognize the loss, eventually forming what is now WWE by putting a brand new title on Rogers. Similar things happened in Ric Flair's days with the NWA world title; on tours in the Caribbean, he would often drop the title to a local wrestler and win in back later that same week. But the NWA never has officially recognized these changes (involving guys like Carlos Colon and Victor Jovica). Bob Backlund's near six-year reign (as it's now viewed) was actually interrupted several times as well - Antonio Inoki beat him clean for the title but "refused" it, and a match with Greg Valentine ended ambiguously with the title being vacated.

As for who has the longest winning streak, well, quite a good number of wrestlers were pushed as undefeated upon debuting. Jake Roberts, Tatanka, Rob Conway, Muhammad Hassan, CM Punk, Eugene...this is just off the top of my head. The longest winning record is whoever you want to believe it is. This sort of thing just isn't documented because it just doesn't matter.

Most likely Bruno Sammartino. He had a WWWF World Title reign that lasted close to 8 years.

Lou Thesz is said to have won 936 consecutive matches from 1948 to 1955.
