Most of the actors and actresses are degenerates and most movies that are put out are crap. By the way, I watched To Kill A Mockingbird last night and think that this movie was one of the all time best. The Deer Hunter, The Usual Suspects, Unforgiven were great. But honestly...why have most movies been as terrible as they have? By the way, I'm not buying guys like Ashton Kutcher and James Van DerBeak as bonafide stars.

I kind of agree. I fell there have been several movies that are really good lately. 300 just showed us a new filming style, which i though was magnificent.

Fight Club is one of my favorite movies. If you really pay attention to what is being said you would find yourself agreeing to every word of it. The society that they portray and discuss in the film is present. The only people who should really be turned off by this movie are rich people. The poor and middle class should share the values and morals that they propose.

The Saw movies are very good, but for the horror genre only.

Crash was an excellent film.

As far as saying films didn't have profanity doesn't make a movie that great. In fact, it makes a film less realistic, as we all know for a fact that foul language is quite vigorously used. We shouldn't dishonor a movie for language, we should accept at how much more meaningful to life it is. Sex scenes in movie show another reality present in life. The aspect that, of course sex happens. There should be no shame or immaturity to watch a sex scene in a movie. As far as violent films with gore and what not. They are just trying to become more realistic. The more realistic a movie becomes the better the fanbase. I believe movies are getting better.

I don't believe we can really judge films of today just yet and compare them to the "classics." I consider classic films to stand the test of time, such as The Deer Hunter. We need a length of time to go back and realize if a film is a great classic. I must admit, though, I rewatched The Usual Suspects a few years ago and found it to be unbearable (the plot is convulted). For me, it didn't stand the test of time and I no longer consider it a great film.

Further Hollywood is a business. Many studios could care less about the quality of the movie than the amount of money it will bring in. Although people like Eddie Murphy may now reconsider their acting choices (Norbit pretty much screwed his chances for an Oscar).

i watched where the red fern grows and that is a good movie it doesnt have great big movie stars in it and old yeller it has a few movie stars from back in the day, but they are storys of real people and real everyday life, movies now a days are not, but when people go to the movies its to use your imagination and let the movie take you away to another place kinda like reading a book so what you may consider a great movie someone else may think its crap. Johnny depp is one of the best male actors i have seen in a long time and is one of my favorites cause he has such an open range, there are many others out there also. Im happy if i go to the movies and out of ten movies if only one of them is greatest movie ever then i can live with that.

I waffle on this one...

While Hollywood makes a lot of lousy movies, this isn't a new development. Bad movies have always been made, it's just that nobody bothers to watch two star movies from the 40s anymore. Now whether or not there are more bad movies nowadays is something of a judgement call. I'll admit I think I've seen fewer good movies lately, but this could just be me. And Hollywood can just have a bad year.

some time past in the previous due Twenties they remade video clips from the early Twenties, those video clips have been then remade lower back in the 30s, 40s and 50s. particularly lots each and every b-action picture western of the 50s became a remake of an until now action picture and fairly a number of the romantic comedies have been remakes besides. i could bypass on by way of fact remakes are no longer new and that i wager once you have been youthful you probable watched video clips without even understanding they have been remakes. and it will by no ability substitute by way of fact in 10 years time they are going to be remaking video clips from the 90s and early 00s for a clean era who will think of the originals are cheesy yet will love the hot variations. And definite people who watched the originals while they arrive out will rant approximately blasted remakes.

I agree with you, partially. There are and will be so many piece of crap-Hollywood movies. But on the other hand, there are still a few great ones in this country and many foreign films are great, too. I liked Children of Men, 300, Syriana, Pan's Labyrinth, Babel, Munich, Constant Gardener, Hotel Rwanda,
The Very long engagement, etc. these recent years.

Sir, you're seeing the wrong movies. There are plenty of excellent, high-quality films being made independently. Try seeking out the smaller, lesser-known films that don't have all the hype and endless advertising. Films like "Breach" or "Last King of Scotland" or "Little Children." These pictures don't get the same attention as, say "Wild Hogs" or "Norbit," but they are excellent and prove that good filmmaking is alive and well.

Big time. The older movies had class, none to very little profanity. To kill a mockingbird is my all time favorite. I will watch it about once a month, and still love it like the first time.

movies these days are mostly crap because people are sucked in by slick advertising and hype. Seriously, the first spiderman movie was like watching a fight scene from power rangers but it made millions of dollars cause people are stupid. Hell i admit i was sucked into it and bought a ticket myself, but at least i felt embarrassed afterwards.
