My best friend (female) always had male roomies when she was single.
It was very nice, because there was a man around to do the stuff that's hard for a single woman to do, like argue with the landlord (who refused to take any woman seriously), and change light bulbs in impossibly high light fixtures.
There was also no grief in the love life department, and that was actually quite relaxed. If she had a guest over for the night, it was easier and less uncomfortable for him to run into another guy in his underwear than it would have been if the roomie had been female. She also found it less stressful when her roomies had female guests over--she didn't have to worry about getting completely dressed just to run out to the kitchen and start water for a cup of tea.
The only bad part was that once in a great while, there would be female-female or male-male conflict between a roommate and a love interest. One of my friend's male roomies dated a very stuck up young lady who did not care one whit for my friend, and was very nasty to her. A catfight over the cereal box is not an ideal way to start the morning. However, since the roommate policy was open discussion about all problems, my friend just sat down with her roommate and explained to him that if he wanted to spend the night with the young lady in question, they needed to either do it at her place, or she needed to learn some manners when she was a guest in their place. It got better after that.
I think that as long as there is no sexual tension between the actual roommates, opposite sex roommates actually work out better than same sex roommates. No one takes your clothing, no one wears your makeup, and no one steals your dates away from you while you are in the bathroom finishing up getting ready to go out.

I had a male roommate for two years and he was the best roommate i ever had. we never had sex and i think doing that will complicate things. and the worst thing about having opposite sex roommates is listening to everyone joke about being friends with benefits.

I had 2 guy roommates. First- keep things strictly platonic. Second, decide, in advance about who divides the bills, and when the money will be available, and who will pay what and when. It should be strictly business. That works out the best. Can you trust- this person? The worst- is when the roommate leaves- you will all the bills to pay- and takes your stuff! Beware and plan.

Yes they can work out. The worst is sharing a bathroom and when your roommate has an annoying friend that hangs around all the time and hits on you.

Do u share a room or house? If it's a house, no problem, but if it's a room than u need to be aware that..
if chemistry or attraction is evident, u sure to get into a relationship..but if that isn't there, then u need to check on each other's temperament before being room mates.
But trust me, if there aint chemistry, this wont work for long..:) Opposite sexes in the same room cant be jus friends and if they intend to, they cant be together for long...

I think it can work out, but there has to be some rules though about stuff in the bathroom and what not, as well if they are both single then they could hook up but that would be weird for friends coming over perhaps lol. Also what could be a problem if the guy had a gf sleep over and vice versa and/or noise problems from that lol.

Yes, opposite sex roommates work out just fine. They do not borrow your clothes but they do have some bathroom issues.

Yes, I had a few male roommates in the past. For me there were a couple things I hated.
1. they allways suckered me into cooking since i "cooked real good"
2. seeing them in the morning when they get out of bed on the way to bathroom, stiffies
3. having them walk around the house in boxers with the fly open. May not be bad for some but it shure was bad for me lol

yes it can work out great!
Worst part would be a drunken night and the two of you end up hooking up! Then trust me, things get different FAST!

I strongly discourage sharing with adult men you do no longer understand. That has the aptitude of spiraling uncontrolled. Many college adult men bypass overboard with partying and your condominium might become a "crash pad" for some undesirable characters.
