Turbo is the best value for bolt on horse power, to get the gain in any other way is major surgery in the engine. You can easily double your horse power depending what your starting with.
A turbo powered engine can last as long as regular engine depending on how heavy your foot is. You can also blow your engine in 5 minutes .

Hell Guy ! If you work at " Whitney" you should have all the Info you need !
But depending on the milage of the cars engine a good place to start is in the Head first.....rebuild it W/ larger valves , take about 5-10/1000 off of it to boost compression , match port the intake and exhaust ports on the head to get rid of the excess material so they fit the gaskets and manifolds better , do the same to the manifolds. improve the air induction system and the exhaust system so the car Breaths better and easier . put in a preformance chip in the ECU to give better timing of the Spark and Fuel injection .
That will get you started anyway ! oh and you can up grade the cam for better performance also. when you do the head.
