Birth records are maintained either or both the local county and the state government. The starting place would be your birth state's state government website. Since there is a high volume of persons needing copies of their birth certificates, even if the state government does not maintain them, there should be something on the site about getting them. Look for birth certificates or vital records.

Birth certificates aren't kept at the hospital, they are at the Hall of Records in the county where you were born. You can write to them or call them & ask for a copy of your birth certificate. It will cost $15.00 or something like that, but they will mail it to you. Or if you live near there, just go there & you can get it that day.

You can try city hall, the department of vital statistics, the health department, or your local, county, or state governments to get your birth certificate. You will be charged a fee for obtaining a copy of your certified birth certificate.

A copy of your birth certificate is filed with the Civil Register where you were born and the Statistics Office. You could secure a copy of your birth records from any of the said offices.

Get on the inter-net and go to the County where-in you were born, in whatever state. They handle that sort of thing ~~~ not the hospital itself.
Good Luck.
