Hi there.

Most modern computers uses standard sized hard drives.

2.5¾" (commonly known as 2.5") are for laptop hard drive or notebook hard drive, and 3.5¾" (commonly known as 3.5") computer/desktop/tower hard drive. Any very older models predating 1980's will come with 5.75" (5 and a quarter) hard drives which aren't around anymore. Note, it's in inches.

Go with 3.5 inches.

As for the size, you'll have to check your computer motherboard's user manual to see what it's maxium size it can handle and type of hard drive you can install on it.

Each motherboard has different minimum and maximum requirements. Get the model number and search for it's specs.

Hope this helps

most desktop hard drives are standard...

you have certain restrictions such as max gb size depending on motherboard.

Two types of hard drives are popular among home users in the market : ATA (the big long cable) and SATA (the tiny skinny cable with a slim head.)
