Actually you are wrong in your statement. Matter is not something that consists of everything. In fact Matter is made up mostly of nothing. Within a single atom about 99.9999999999999999% of the space it occupies is empty. But that is a moot point.

To answer your question would require philosophical thought since science can never answer why (only who, what, when, where, and how). So my own philosophical thought is that matter "matters" because without some sort of external experience our own personal being would be undefinable. We would cease to be real. You are defined by your experiences and nothing else. How you look, feel, smell, taste, and sound are all replicated thought patterns in your head.

Long story short: Without matter we would cease to be.

No, matter and energy are two different forms of the same thing. And it matters since, if there were only energy and no matter, then it wouldn't much matter to us since we wouldn't exist anyway. And since that matters to all the rest of us I have to wonder, "What's the matter with *you*"?

matter is a strange form of solid energy...it has different properties than energy(tho it is 'crystallised form of energy')...all physical forms r made of matter...human physical form is also made of matter...the human senses primarily work as channels that link all the available physical forms and the human mind.......its the sensations frm these senses that trigger thought and emotions in us...human beings love anything which has to do with emotions...since matter ultimately creates emotions in this roundabout but definite way, matter matters to us all(i dont know about aliens)
