Unfortunately you will need to study and sit for a new license once you're in Australia.

A very good friend of mine married an Indian (who was also there as a student), and he managed to drive for a very short time on his Indian license - but unlike some other countries you can't do a straight swap, and will have to sit for a new license in which ever state you'll be based in.

To illustrate, below are two links for the RTA in NSW and VicRoads in Victoria (each state has its own licensing body) - which explain in full what you need to do. You'll also see sections on obtaining taxi licenses on these sites.
