My husband are visiting St. Louis in April. We like outdoors-y stuff, culture, bratwursts, and don't drink, party, etc. We will be staying for 5 days and are on a tight budget. Thanks.

There's a bunch of places that I would reccommend:

1. Take in a game or a tour at the New Busch Stadium
www.stlcardinals.com
-The Cardinals have a lot of history in the city and Busch has an awesome reputation for being some of the most educated and respected fans in sports Plus they have cheap seats with some of the best views of the ballpark and the city. Take the metrolink to the ballpark as parking has become a pain.

2. The Zoo in Forest Park- One of the best zoos in the country and it's free. The Rivers Edge exhibit is relatively new and overall the zoo tells a lot about St. Louis history.

3. The Missouri Botannical Gardens always has a lot of different festivals and events going on. It is one of the most underrated attractions in St. Louis.

4. Main Street Saint Charles is a good place if you like history. It has a lot of shops and restaurants and is near the Missouri River where Louis and Clark began their exploration.

5. The Arch has a museum of the region's history and if you go up in the elevator you can see the whole downtown skyline.

6. I know you said that you and your husband don't drink but consider going on a brewery tour of Anheuser Busch. You see the whole process and the Clydesdales they use for commercials. This plays a lot into the history of the city and the impact it has had on our region.

7. Forest Park has a bunch of museums for different types of culture. I know they have the Art Museum, the Muny, and the History museum. Check that out.

8. Union Station is nice if you like shopping and the history aspect is interesting. They have a lot of restaurants there as well.

Have a good trip and I hope these help out your itinerary.

I'd suggest seeing a Cards game at the new Busch Stadium. Here is the link for April games:

St. Louis has one of the biggest and nicest zoos. It's located in Forest Park which is also the following are located:

The St. Louis Zoo
The St. Louis Science Center and Planetarium
The History Museum
The Art Museum
The Muny
The Jewel Box
The World's Fair Pavilion
Steinberg Skating Rink
Forest Park Golf Course

AND Forest Park is a wonderful open place to walk around.

Ted Drewes is a St. Louis tradition- you have to go. They
have the most amazing custard!!!!

Those are a few things that aren't 'out of a book.' I love Ted Drewes and take my kids to Forest Park all of time. Hope you have a nice time!

Missuri Botanical Garden/Shaw's Garden (small fee to get in except on 1-2 days don't recall which)
Jefferson NE Memorial/Arch (go early early early to get the ride up) has a big museum inderneath
Old Courthouse (historic but a little boring really)
A Cardinal's game? some tix are not too much
Grant's Farm (see the Clydesdales you don't need to drink they have other food)
Anheuser Busch Brewery Tour (might have to get reservations in advance and you don't have to drink--tells of the history, etc.)
Soulard Market (great spice market and farmer's market)
Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard (A St. Louis tradition)
Shrine Our Lady of the Snows
Tom Sawyer Riverboat in Kimmswick Mo. (south St. Louis)
Blue Owl Restaurant in Kimmswick Mo. (famous for their desserts)

Forest Park:
St. Louis Science Center/Planetarium
Zoo (if you go early morning you might be able to still get some free street parking off the lot; drive all the way around the zoo to look)
The Jewel Box (free 9-12am Mon & Tues)
Art Museum

the city museum is very neat and inexpensive.

Forest Park is awesome and has free stuff like the zoo and science center. If you go to forest park you should eat at the boat house.

A little bit outside of st. louis are really good wineries. Check out Augusta or Hermann. Most of them have good food and free tastings. Whether your into drinking or not it's a good experience, especially when the weather is nice.

First, you have got to go to The Hill for Italian food. Some of the best in the world is here. I suggest House of Cunetto's. It is my personal favorite.

Also, consider coming into Illinois. Just up river from Grafton is Pere Marquette State Park. It has wonderful hiking trails. Cycling is also great and you can rent a bike in Grafton if you don't have one. Then you can stop in Grafton on the way back to St. Louis for some great local dining, antique shopping, wine tasting, etc.

Metrolink starts at the Airport and goes all the way through downtown and into Illinois. I would sugget staying at a hotel near the Airport or downtown. Most anything inbetween is not near a hotel, or in a bad neighborhood. Downtown look for a hotel that is near Bush Stadium or the Scott Trade Center for there is a metrolink stop near there. The Adam's Mark is one, but expensive. I hope you enjoy your stay here and get to do all the fun things we have here. Don't forget Six Flags is only about 45 mins to an hour away!

There is lots to do here that's cheap and free. Here's some things I would recommend.
1. The St. Louis Zoo
2. The Art Museum
3. Missouri Botanical Gardens
4.The Old Courthouse
5.The Gateway Arch

*Some of these are free, some require paying for parking, but they are are reasonably priced.

There is a six flags there, or actually just outside of there. Don't know how much it is, you might want to look up the web site.
