THE TRUTH.
And I mean having the tell someone something that is happening that you know they are not going to want to hear. That translates into "THE TRUTH", but in a bad way. It's nice to be able to tell someone something that is good - that would be the "THE TRUTH" in a good way. Like: I love you, excellent job, something great happened today, etc...
The hardest thing to have to tell someone is anything that really messes them up and messes up their daily routine. Life changing problems. Examples of this are: this isn't working out, you're fired, you have an incurable illness, someone you love has been hurt.
And that is only in relation to what's going on in their lives. It can also be difficult to tell someone something that's "personally" difficult FOR YOU to have to tell or ask someone. You fill in the blank: I don't ________ you (like, love, need, etc...), can you help me, etc....
And for others, it's not difficult at all to tell people any of these things. They know that it's important that they do tell someone something that's difficult to say, and it could be worse if they don't tell them. Only once something difficult has been shared can it be remedied.

The hardest thing I have ever had to say to someone was to my Stepson's Mother. I had to call and tell her he had been hit by a car. That is something I wish never to have to do again.

having to look them in the eye an say your loved one has died. as a firemen for 18 years i have had to do that way to often.
