if crass = (of persons) so unrefined as to be lacking in discrimination and sensibility
they probably weren't raised properly, so they have a need for instant gratification and are very selfish, and don't think about how they appear to others.

Because they dont know how to act. Manners have been thrown out the door. Its a dog eat dog world now, and nobody cares what the other thinks, its pretty sad. Hope it helps.

People seem to be getting crasser all the time. I sympathise.
why? because they don't know better because no one taught them better. Good manners are not a given. they take hard work to teach.
teach your own children and don't expect anyone else to teach them for you.
