hmm.. interesting thing to think of actually...what i think is that they are called apartments because thats what weird name they thought of for it..
why is a book called a book ?
why is a computer called a computer ?
all these questions ,like yours, have one simple answer,...thats the word they thought of for it !

Probably because even tho they are all stuck together, we all live "apart" from our neighbors-different entrances to our homes. And separate living areas.

that's because they separate u apart from others by walls. so u re not together with billions of people in the same concrete box. u re "apart" with the help of walls. i hate apartment buildings
