i am a cosmotologist and have recently moved into a new town. any ideas how to promote my business?

Get 10 well known women and men in the town to let you take photographs of their faces by offering them something free. Now take the photos and use only a portion like the lips or just the noses. Now have a flyer made with the photos and the list of names in random order. Challenge people to correctly identify the lips or noses or eye or whatever you want to focus on. Include information on the flyer about your services. Offer a grand prize drawing for all who get the 10 choices right.
I just made this promotion up. I like it. It focuses people on what you do and puts you in direct contact with the best known people in the town which should be the best client list. It also gets people talking about your business in a fun way. Perhaps you could do this in conjunction with a local non-profit and allow them to benefit also. It's all good positive public relations and FUN! Good luck.

I can't say it enough....buy a domain from like godaddy.com etc....also the local paper, flyers in the local grocery store, create a myspace for your business, try the local stepsaver or ad saver things...bargin book, use coupons. What else let me think....use local phone book and look up people's address...and send them a mailing piece...look for females names in the book..also you could check with local gyms and women's places...(health centers etc) and leave flyer or your card. See your business anywhere you go....in the line @ the grocery store even at the gas station, ask people where they get there hair done, makeup done etc...get the inside scoop and offer your svcs with a 10 % deal something like that... I'm a nail tech and waxer for years but I also have a full time job! :) I only do it part time...good luck!
