everytime the sailors pulled into town all the honies went home with the sailors and the zoot suiters who managed to stay out of WW2 were all of a sudden going home alone instead of with someone elses wife/GF.
so I guess what has started every rivalry since the caveman is that fun stuff between a womans leg commonly associated with a feline.
there are organizations and people out there that were not even born at the time that will say it was a racial thing purely but hey every one will complicate to make it work for their own agenda regardless of what the incident was.

the zoot suiters were picking up the girlfriends the sailors left at home. they also found them unpatriotic because they didn't fight in the war. hope that helps!

'Cause the white sailors were racist. Zoot-suiters were primarily Chicano; the whole zoot suit culture was a Mexican-American (and black) phenomenon.
