I agree McLeod. Taxi Driver vs Silence of the Lambs is like comparing Crash to Jacob's Ladder. Both are fantastic films but have nothing in common.
If you are looking for some fairly gory suspense/horror watch Lambs, if you are into a man's mental and emotional stability after coming back from the war, watch Taxi Driver.

Taxi Driver:
I always liked the idea that he could have gone either way. Had he killed the guy running for senator....
Silence of the Lambs isn't chopped liver though....though they were chopped....sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm going to go with "Silence of the Lambs" - its sexual politics are less troubling, and it has a protagonist whom we desperately want to see succeed.

I dunno its hard to choose, both have jodie foster in htem and the leading men were brilliant in their respective roles and were directed by two of the greatest directors around but if i had to choose one then i would say Silence of the lambs is better but not by much.
