If a train is heading North at 5mph and you are inside the train walking towards the rear of the train down the aisle at 2mph. How fast are you moving. It's suppose to be a trick question but I don't get it.

If the train is moving at 5 mph, it doesn't matter if you're running 20 miles an hour down the aisles. You're on the train, and can only move as fast as the train.

I believe if the train crashed at 5 mph you'd feel a 5mph crash. You are going 5 mph.

2 mph? It's relative... and physics. To an outsider, 5mph because you can't move faster than the train.

You are not measuring the distance you are covering, but the speed -- "How FAST are you moving?" is the question.

You are walking at 2 mph. That is the answer.

The speed and direction of the train is extraneous information.
