They say it is, but so is everything else. It's a sin to eat animal fat (bacon, sausage, hot dogs, etc) Its a sin to eat meat with even the slightest bit of blood (any type of steak that isn't very well done, or burnt) Its a sin to have sex before marriage (ha, I wonder how many people have broken that one). There are a lot of sins but Christians act like homosexuality is the worst, they would rather let a murderer into a church than a queer. They always say, "well, if we sin we just ask God for forgiveness." So its ok for people to steal, lie, cheat on their lover, abuse their children, and murder people as long as they prey and say, "Oh Lord, please forgive me." They have chosen these acts, they weren't born a liar, they weren't born a killler; its something that they chose to do. However, gay people dont have a choice, being gay is who we are, and right away we are sinners. We dont even get a chance to prove to others that we are the same as everyone else and that we deserve a place in heaven. Its either we are straight or we go to hell. Just think about it, why would God want his own children to hate eachother and change who they are? All gay people want to do is love. Why is that so wrong? Love is love, it doesn't matter who its with.

(the word "homosexual" never actually appears in greek or hebrew in this verse. It has been written in. Oo) i'm posting a link below so you can follow up on the homosexuality in the bible stuff. I cannot otherwise answer this question for you. If you believe it is disobedience, sin = disobedience for some religions. If you do not believe it is disobedience, well, then no disobedience, no sin.
Also, there are more than two sexes. (there are at least 9 chromosomal sexes) My personal belief is that that Creator was leaving us biological clues that religeon can stray from what I think is most important to whom I consider the Creator. That important point is love, defined as "empathy (action) followed by compassion (reaction)" and whoever is sleeping with whomever so long as it is not hurting them is totally outside the point of us focusing on loving our fellow human beings, meaning its not our business to patrol people's consensual sexual practices. (consent defined as informed concent with knowledge and understanding of possible consequences of sex including STD's/STI's and pregnancy) I don't see how a person can portend to love with godly (in a christian context) love and be focused on such godly love that they will be anti-homosexual and pro war, poverty, education cuts (all of which lead to higher abortion rates if anyone is interested in knowing), anti-human rights and civil rights equality. It is hipocracy...
1 Corinthians 6:9 (someone tampered with this text!!!)
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

I think homosexuality can be a sin, if it's a lustful way of indulging your sexuality in a way that can hurt other people physically or emotionally. The same can certainly be said of heterosexuality. But, to be attracted to a person, or to love a person, same sex or not, cannot be a sin. There is no way to control those thoughts or feelings. The only "cure" would be to smash yourself in the head until you can't think or feel anymore...which brings me to the next topic:
It's kind of sad and dangerous that Christians are so quick to regurgitate the information they are spoon fed by an ancient book in a brain washing institution rather than think for themselves. Why, when Christ's words were so filled with love, hope and acceptance, do we get so much negative, hateful rhetoric from a coummunity claiming to represent him? It makes me so sick, because I love GOD and I believe in the words that came from the mouth of his son.
I encourage you to look into your heart and discover the answer for yourself.

Well, the act of Homosexuality is a sin because it perverts the entire nature of sex which is to be shared only between a man and a woman. Lusting over a man is the same as lusting over a woman when it comes to sins of thought. I personally believe that not participating in any homosexual acts and ignoring homosexual desires and replacing them with healthier thoughts. It can be scary, but it can be corrected with strong will and prayer.

It is to people who follow crappy fiction written by bored virgins and repressed assholes.
My philosophy: If God went through the trouble of creating us and decided to concomitantly give us free will, then nothing is wrong as long as you do it with the best of intentions. I sincerely doubt that he left specific instructions that read something like: "death to homosexuals" or "homosexuals are sinners, they will be punished".... what a load of c.r.a.p.
Homosexuality is not just about sex, you people need to open your eyes and see that we are also respectable human beings who suffer because of fabricated arguments such as the bible's RECENTLY added bonuses, and most importantly, we can also love and respect each other.
I believe in God, I condemn religion... I think religion is the biggest joke of all time and the guy who invented it is laughing his a.s.s off wherever he is. We are one weak race if we desperately need to hold on to an institution that has killed and persecuted for long years in the name of a God who probably didn't have such cruelty in mind. I find religion to be a pathetic excuse for losers who can't control their lives.
And take into account, I mean no disrespect towards anyone's beliefs, it is merely my humble opinion.
Deal with us, or mind your own business.
On the other hand, if it is, in fact, a sin, then you have nothing to worry about because you are not a homo...or... are you????

Yes, according to people who are not educated about the meanings behind homosexuality and why it was mentioned in the bible.
No, according to people who are in the reality we call this world.
You either believe one or the other.

to some people, yes, but theirs is not the only viewpoint. I would say no. Murder is a sin, torture is a sin, but homosexuality? no...

Our Creator established rules governing marriage long before governments began regulating the institution. The opening book of the Bible tells us: “A man will leave his father and his mother and he must stick to his wife and they must become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24) The Hebrew word “wife,” according to Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, “connotes one who is a female human being.” Jesus confirmed that those yoked together in marriage should be “male and female.”—Matthew 19:4.
Thus, God intended marriage to be a permanent and an intimate bond between a man and a woman. Men and women are designed to complement each other so they may be capable of satisfying each other’s emotional, spiritual, and sexual needs and desires.
The well-known Biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah reveals God’s feelings about homosexuality. God declared: “The cry of complaint about Sodom and Gomorrah, yes, it is loud, and their sin, yes, it is very heavy.” (Genesis 18:20) The extent of their sinful depravity at that time was apparent when two guests visited the righteous man Lot. “The men of Sodom . . . surrounded the house, from boy to old man, all the people in one mob. And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him: ‘Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have intercourse with them.’” (Genesis 19:4, 5) The Bible says: “The men of Sodom were bad and were gross sinners against Jehovah.”—Genesis 13:13.
The men became “violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males.” (Romans 1:27) They had “gone out after flesh for unnatural use.” (Jude 7) In countries where homosexual rights campaigns are pervasive, some may object to using the word “unnatural” to describe homosexual behavior. However, is not God the final arbiter when it comes to nature? He commanded his ancient people: “You must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing.”— Leviticus 18:22.
The Bible is clear: God does not approve of or condone homosexual practices. He also disapproves of people who “consent with those practicing them.” (Romans 1:32) And “marriage” cannot give homosexuality a cloak of respectability. God’s direction that “marriage be honorable among all” precludes homosexual unions, which he considers detestable.—Hebrews 13:4.
Still, with God’s help, anyone can learn to “abstain from fornication,” which includes homosexual acts, and “get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor.”(1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4)
