Absolutely, Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison. I mean, I'm really biased because I'm a huge Doors fan, but he really, REALLY nailed it. And Gary Oldman was great too, hell, Jamie Foxx was amazing! These are tough choices but I still have to go with Val Kilmer. RIP Jim Morrison.

I would have to say it would be a tie between Val Kilmer and Gary Oldman as they both were very convincing in their roles.
I know, Jamie Foxx won awards for portraying Ray Charles, but did not find him as convincing as the above.
Halle Berry was good as Dorothy Dandridge and portrayed her well, but not stunningly so.
Bottom ranked of the above, Joachim Phoenix as Johnny Cash...good performance by the actor but never bought him as being Johnny Cash, or Reese Witherspoon as June Carter...sorry!

I think that Jamie Foxx did the best job but Halle looked the best. I also thought of these actors and their portrayals of these great singers too.
Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darin
Bette Midler as Janis Joplin
Jennifer Lopez as Selena
Lou Diamond Phillips as Richie Valens
Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn
Dennis Quaid as Jerry Lee Lewis
Forest Whittaker as Charlie "Bird" Parker

From your list Jamie Foxx portraying Ray Charles in Ray. But not on your list, Sissy Spacek in Coal Miners Daugher. She portrayed Loretta Lynn.

Gary Oldman did an awesome job as "Sid", but my overall favorite has to be Val Kilmer. It was like Jim Morrison did the movie as himself. He looked like him, acted like how I would expect him to act, and he certainly had the moves. Jim is a hard act to follow, but Val Kilmer nailed it.
