Poor governance,and corruption in the system which could be corrected by inducting better persons into politics.

Islamic Terrorism and Maoist insurgency are the hurdles hatched by foreign countries like Pakistan and China. But India will over come all these because of inherent resilience, come what may! India will emerge as a Super power by 2011, no one can undo it.

purely it's the internal conflicts. nepotism and favouritism have led to many immoral breakdown of the existing laws and regulations. the carelessness of the officers over daily life small issues leads to big problems in the near future. this leads to national disintegration.
it was for the same that we Indians were slaved to the english. after joining hands together we were out of the clutches. but still the dis-integration among people exists in the form of caste,creed,etc.
sure this is the main hurdle for india on the way to become a superpower.

It is more the internal factors than the external ones fighting against which much of India's potentialities are getting wasted. Plural democracy in India has cost it very dear. Yet, India becoming a Super Power could be delayed but not postponed.

The biggest hurdle to India's super power status is their corrupt gov't.

The nation has a very high poverty rate, yet the leaders continue to do nothing....while enriching themselves.

Internal and external problems, but I think its well own its way, with India's cheap,yet highly skilled labor force, laxed environmental laws...Indian is ripe for the pickings.
