When trumpet fade - a HBO Movie. Very underrated and to me, is one of the best war movie.
About a private who lost all his comrades (week before the Battle of the Bulge) and promoted to a platoon commander in 3 days. He wanted to plead insanity to get out of service but end up being a reluctant hero and died.
Great irony about war about how not all heros are willing participant but end up being one for different reasons.

Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon,
Memphis Belle, Apocalypse Now, Braveheart (kinda),
Red Dawn (sort of same theme, kinda cheesy),
Iron Eagles (was okay), The Patriot (could have been better),
Soldier (not really war, but lots of firefights)
That's my two cents for ya.

Saving Private Ryan was and is one of my favs, but a Bridge too Far was great also, it's a little older but good. Now I havn't seen the new Clint Eastwood one yet, but I hear it is great and looking forward to it.. I am a Big WWII Buff. I also like all the nam movies from the 80's and 90's, espically and my fav there is "Apocolypse Now" You have to see that one.

My favorite is Kelly's Heroes starring Clint Eastwood. It's a WWII movie about a platoon hunting for Nazi gold behind enemy lines while they're supposed to be on R&R. It's got a lot of intense drama and some extremely funny bits, too.

I remember that one it has David Solo from the original Starsky and Hutch TV series and Rock Hudson as the President. David Solo's character uses sewer pipes to set up fields of fire for his troops, right.
I digress, I always liked Kelly's Heroes, Patton, The Guns of Navarone, and Where Eagle's Dare.

The best war movie I've ever seen is Saving Private Ryan. Another, more invasion/guerilla tactics type and less martial, is Red Dawn.
