Personally, I'd go for the second one, tele's have a cleaner sound, and the shape fits better to the colour that's chosen, the tele also normally has a smoother neck, and is lighter than a strat, as well as having more sustain because of its shape. generally a better guitar to play.

It also looks **** hot.

I've never liked the shape of teles so I'm biased towards the strat style.

Yamahas make some decent single coils too, so you might want to check those out as well. Of course, none of them have the cool finish like the Xavieres..... :P

Those are very pretty guitars, but I couldn't find reviews of them anywhere, so I wonder how good they really are.

For that price, you can go down to your local Guitar Center and get any number of good, low-end name-brand guitars. I personally prefer Ibanez, and for that price you can get an RG270, probably, or one of the SA's (I have a gorgeous SA160).

That's not to say these aren't good guitars. Most of the guitars in the world are now made by two companies (Samick and Cort) in a number of Asian factories, and while they aren't expensive, they are often as good in quality as the Fenders of the 1960's.

I agree with second answerer. Ibanez is your best bet. You can get good sounds from any Ibanez guitar. Try the SA series. It is Ibanez's hot rodded version of a strat, plus, with the right settings you can get a good tele tone.
