Ok..heres the deal just asking for an opinion,..Just so happens me and another coworker interviewed for the same position at another company..I have way more experience doing the exact same thing..he has a yr or 2 experience in the field not the specific position.Well today he told me they offered him the job, I was suprised, because he even told me the only reason he applied was just to get his foot in the door to do something else. This position is actually some ive been doing 4 years and plan on staying that way it just offered more money...I still havent received a courtesy call from the company either this bumms out........WHy did this happen???

I hope this guy wasn't a friend who went on the interview after you told him about it ! that was dirty. I would be so mad but don't let it discourage you maybe they were looking for other qualifications .... Where I work the people who usually get the promotions or who get hired are related to someone or the people who party together or live in the same neighborhood ..maybe thats who they were looking for.

There are numerous reasons that this could've
happened. To name the primary reason - when
a prospective employer interviews individuals for
a position, they look at the whole package....not
just one quality.

Experience in the field is an important part, but
it is not all that an employer takes into consideration.
It is agressiveness, dependability, and so on.
For example, you indicate that you have experience
in that field and desire to remain in that position.
Your co-worker has less experience but indicated
a desire, not only to be in that position, but to go
further if possible. The possibility of going further
up the ladder depends in large part on job performance.
Perhaps the prospective employer saw your co-worker's
desire "not" to remain in the same position forever
as a positive....an indication that his performance level
might be higher than one who is satisfied to remain
at the level they are hired in at.

Interviewers look for different things from appearance (first impressions mean a lot) to body language to the ability of the interviewee to interview. If you are not one to pump yourself up and tell them about everything you have done (on your own, with no help, even if you had plenty), you may fall out on the bottom end of the candidate scale. There are probably a lot of factors involved, nothing is so simple.

He could have more education.

Maybe they want to train, not take another companies way of doing things.

Maybe he has other experience they find intriguing.

He simply may have interviewed better.

lots of reasons. JUST because you have more experience dosen't make you a better fit for the position. do you have trouble leading people? do you bring your problems from home to work? do you have difficulty having a pleasant demeanor with customers? do you gossip at work? are you difficult to work with? Look at what you do that could be percieved as a negative and you will most likely find your answer.

If this guy is as bad as you make him sound his new employer will soon discover what kind of employee he is.
Keep looking for other employment in your field.
I wish you all the best.
