Their personal income is modest. As far as their housing and cars being "free", that is a lie. A priest's home is owned NOT by the priest(s) living there but by the parish. The priest does not actually own the home he lives in, thus there is no violation of his vow of poverty. Same with the car. It too was paid for, and owned, by the parish, not the priest who actually drives the car. So, again, no violation of the vow of poverty.
As far as a priest's income, that money is not "free" either. It comes from the donations made by the priests parishioners.

However much you take out of the bowl for yourself. And you should pick a different career, usually people in the church could care less about money. I would think that person is selfish and that's the last person I want to see preaching values.

Not only the take a vow of Chasity they take a vow of poverty. They do have free housing food and medical care
