If you chose not to breast feed do not pump, by doing so you will encourage milk production. The first few days you will become engorged which is super painful and your boobs will feel like rocks. Then you will probably leak for a little while (get some nursing pads and put in your bra and sleep with a towel around you so you don't stain the mattress). Then after a month or so it will eventually let up and dry up. You can continue to produce milk in small quantities for about a year after stopping but not to the point of noticing really- after you dry up you will only see milk if you manipulate your nips. I had to quit nursing because I was soaking through a thick beach towel every night while I was nursing and it was just so uncomfortable (plus I started smoking again and didn't want to pass that on to baby).

I've breastfed and bottle fed both. When I didnt breast feed, my milk came in a couple days after giving birth, they swelled up to double their size. They hurt bad. And they leaked. I wore a tight sports bra with nursing pads.
DO NOT pump or express milk out if your trying to get them to dry up. Yes it will relieve some of the pressure for a little while, but it will take longer for the milk to dry up. The body produces more milk when you express some out.

heheh I found this out the hard way, your milk will still come in even if you wrap your breasts in the Ace bandage, they will swell and they will leak when your baby cries for the first week or so. It will dry up if not used but they will be pretty sore. I have done both though and I would recommend breastfeeding if you can it is very much worth it!

They will produce milk, that begins before you give birth, but it is supply and demand, if you do not use it (by nursing) no more will be made, they will leak, and become engorged (big and painful) but it will pass after a day or two, expect it to be at its worst within 24-48 hours after birth, then subside.
Many of my friends who did not nurse found that using and ace type elastic bandage wrapped snugly around the breast helped ease the discomfort, but nothing will prevent it.

They will get big, sore and produce milk. You have to wait for them to dry up..usually a few days. Cabbage leaves work amazingly. The pain is pretty unbearable, but knowing that it is only for a few days makes it better. They also can leak a bit so you need to get the pads. They sell them in the pharmacies. I needed a box with each birth.

Your breasts will not look like the ones in the National Geographic magazine if you do breastfeed. You know the ones.....that look like a tube sock with a golf ball in the end. Wear a tight bra and the milk will go away. Sometimes you have to put ice packs on them to get rid of that milk. Don't let anyone talk you into breastfeeding unless they are willing to pay for the breast implants for you. Just a thought.

First they will engorge (totally normal) then they will leak for a few days. Because your breasts work on a supply and demand type system- after a few days when your breasts realize there is no demand, they will dry up and your breasts will return to 'normal'.
Breast engorgement is very common for women right after they give birth. You can use ice packs to help the swelling and some women even use cabbage leaves. Gentle message (sans stimulation) of the knots will help to relieve the pain.

Yes they will still produce milk and they will leak. They do become a little sore around the nipple area if your baby bites on them alot.

Mine dried up and hurt a little about 3-4 days after giving birth. Then they started leaking. Everytime my daughter cried for a month, they leaked!

Depends, have you been breastfeeding at all? If not... You will probably have some swelling for a few days and maybe some leaking but eventually you will dry up. Breastfeeding is really good for your baby though and promotes good breast health later in life.
Good luck!
