Not much info, dogs can be bitten by snakes, cats are more agile and thus more difficult to get snakebit. Some people living in tropical/ subtropical areas sometimes keep cats as they scare away/kills certain snakes.
Snake bites normally leaves 2 small red puncture marks, sometimes little swollen. The way your pets were lying can be a clue. Are there poisonous snakes naturally occuring in your area? They could be poisoned as well, either intentionally or by accident.

Did you see any external damage with a bloody discharge and extreme swelling in the area ? Did they act like they were in pain for a day or two before they died ?

if theres like strange two holes some how in there body then it can be a snake bite u should ask the vet the will help you and watch your back from snakes=)))
