I'm not sure if it will cause problems to leave the hose hooked up if the temperature gets down to 26 degrees.

no probably not. depends for how long it's at that temp. If you don't want to worry then leave the faucet dripping like a slow leak, then it will not freeze until your ready to turn off the spikket for the winter

We just came off a 80 degree spell here, I doubt a night or two of cold air is going to hurt, but I would unhook garden hoses and drain and store inside like under the house, this I do most anytime as a routine throughout the year (it helps preserve the rubber).

Will your PIPES freeze? Your hose will freeze-but my pipes don't freeze even in minus 35 celsius so I don't think yours will freeze. Besides-the temperature will rise again tomorrow and the sun will be shining on it-so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

It probably will. Go outside and at least unscrew it from the hose bib. That way the worst that will happen is the hose will be messed up and leak.
