The first mentrual period, or menarche, sometimes doesn't come until age 16 or rarely, even later.

As long as you are eating and excercising normally, you shouldn't need to see a physician about it until age 16. Two common things that delay menarche in otherwise healthy females are obesity or extreme exercise. If you may fit into either of those categories, see a doctor now. Otherwise, be happy that you don't have to deal with an unpleasant visitor every 28 days.

You should talk to your mother, and you should be examined by a doctor. Many years ago a friend of mine had not started by the time she was 16, and she had a problem. Unfortunately for her, it wasn't something that could be fixed, but they did have to do surgery so she could even have intercourse normally.

actually it is better to have it later in life....early menstruation is a bigger risk for other conditions later...it is also becoming a concern because it is happening too early now as a result of too many processed foods and poor child nutrition
