Looks like it through day 1, right?

2 upsets...
Xavier over BYU (8v9, so not much of an upset anyways)
and VCU over Duke (mid major v ACC)

Can we give them their props?

Good point about Stanford... Louisville was better and essentially at home.

Everybody dosent' know Izzo's gonna get it done becuse the Big 10 disappoints every year.

Thanks for pointing out that theres another day of first round action... REALLY? When did this happen?!

Just kidding folks! Appreciate the answers!

Two of the teams I have the strongest beef with do not play until today (Arkansas and Illinois). And if those games go anything like the severe beating Louisville gave to Stanford, expect to hear really loud shouting from Syracuse and wherever the hell Drexel is located.

Hands down, those three teams did not deserve to be in. I've been complaining about it since Sunday, and 1/3 of my complaints have now been vindicated. I think today will yield similar results.

The selection committee deserves zero props this year. They overseeded Duke, left out some deserving teams in favor of some questionable ones, and then their fearless leader blubbered on about the same crap about how hard his job is.

I can agree with knocks about the Cuse's poor scheduling, but Arkansas wasn't even the best team in a piss poor SEC West. Same deal for Illinois, though I do think they have a reasonable shot and have some redeemable qualities as a team. And I need say NO MORE about Stanford after their embarrasing showing.

Give them their props? What? This is the most embarassing, disgraceful, absymally selected tournament field in the history of the NCAA.

They pick a team (Stanford) that lost 4 of its last 5 and 7 of its last 11, over Syracuse? Shameful, humiliating disgrace. Big surprise when Stanford DOESN'T EVEN COMPETE at any point of the game!! BTW, the dopey benighted homer-drone coach of UCLA stupidly declared, when the selections came out, that he was "pleased" that Stanford made it. Talk about a disgraceful, utterly biased homer with zero objectivity. Someone should ram a mic in his stupid face and demand
an answer about Stanford's abject humiliation by Louisville. Does he still think they belonged?

In other news, a crappy ACC team that finished 8-9 in its conference got in the tournament over a BE team that was 11-7 in conference. This sublime, unsurpassed foolery was explained with mumbled babblings about Syracuse's OOC record, and the thoroughly laughable supposed superiority of the ACC, even though the BE whipped the ACC in head to head matchups this year. Did Dukes' miserable in conference record mean nothing? They were 7th in the ACC and they got a 6 seed!!!

Remember this, I am not complaining that Duke got a 6 and Syracuse got say, a 9. Duke got a 6 and Syracuse didn't even make the tournament!

Travesty and disgrace. DELIGHTED to see VCU humiliate Duke and Commissioner Walters, the benighted blinkered fool with no analytical skills whatsoever.

I think so far they were pretty well on. Everybody knew that Duke had gotten a higher seed then they should have, so that's not that much of a shocker.

And with Xavier playing literally an hour and a half from home in Lexington, you figured they'd have the upper hand anyway. You also know with Izzo that Michigan St. is going to get it done. And with both being an #8 vs. #9, they're not that big of an upset.

But we still have a WHOLE other day of 1st round basketball to play. I know in my bracket I have a few upsets picked for tomorrow, so it still remains to be seen.

Although for the first half of the first round it was pretty exciting. Games with VCu beating Duke with a game winning shot, Xavier just barely pulling it out against BYU, seeing Bobby Knight get pissed as Boston College gets a 9 point victory.

I don't think the seedings were going to be the hard part- although I think making Butler a 5 seed looks smart after they bombed Old Dominion in a game which should have been closer. Stanford proved they didn't belong in the tournament, not did Old Dominion. Funny that Xavier was the best team in the A-10 all year, lose in the conference tournament, and GW wins that and gets bombed- wish I had seen that coming.

Them getting it right made for a boring first day, but yes they did a pretty good job.

One exception though: I'd say they blew it letting Stanford in the tourney. Louisville may have been fired up, but a better team such as Drexel or Syracuse would've given them a much better game.

i assume i'm somewhat perplexed via the story and the link doesnt' artwork so I wasn't able to study the object. Is your question why did the committee help out a traditionally black college rather of choosing the suited a probability team? if it is so then i might actual report this under the class of opposite racism. The experience might desire to constantly be with regards to the suited sixty 4 (sixty 5) communities interior the rustic, regardless of their race, college, etc.

i dont think that there really trying to make a perfect bracket, with all the 1 seeds meetin in the final four, cuz it basically goes by there overall rating for first 30 teams just about, but yeah, props to them, but some games were close, too close, but hey, everything just about went right
