I need to draw 4 pictures that show change from each decade.

I'd go with skirt lengths. Easy to draw and easy to differentiate.

50's they were mid-calf poodle skirts.
60's we had the mini skirt, usually pleated and in polka dots or some zany pattern.
70's they were knee length or floor length wraparounds.
80's was the micro-mini in solid black, and TIGHT.

50's: a plane crash because Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and others died. Its referred to as The Day the Music Died in McClean's song, "American Pie."
60's: A little hippy girl putting a flower in a soldier's gun. Or maybe man walking on the moon. Or the Kennedy assassinations. Or Martin Luther King assassination. Seemed every time we turned around something devastating happened.
You're on your own for the rest--I really wasn't paying that much attention (by choice).
