The Sun passes through thirteen constellations in the course of a year - the twelve constellations of the traditional zodiac plus Ophiuchus. In addition, some of the planets pass through a corner of Cetus. This is based on the constellations as defined by the IAU (International Astronomical Union) in 1930. This has no bearing on astrology, which still uses the signs as laid out by Claudius Ptolemy in the second century. Due to precession changing the position of the sun at the spring equinox by a little bit each year, the astrological signs no longer line up with the constellations they are named after anyhow.
