I took her and her 15 year old sis ter to the skating rink to a skate and dance party, when i went back to pick them up my 13 year old was standing in front of this boys with her butt up to his front as if he was hugging her from the back, they was just standing there with there friends, so when i called her on her phone and asked her who was the boy she was standing in front of she told me she wasn't standing in front of anybody, she didn't know i was looking right in her face. I got on her for lying but should i get on her for being all up on a boy, or is this cool for a 13 year old, she will be 14 on the 24th of this month. Am i being old fashioned, or what?

No! You are not old fashion at all! My mama was like this with me too... I didnt ever have a boyfriend till I was 17 almost 18...and god forbid me talk or be up on any boy...! Right now at this age, hormones are goin crazy with boys...and all they thinkin about is gettin that THANG touched, so most likely a girl to be all up on a boy like that will make him think "oh, it's ok for me to grab on her and be all up on her how I like cause she's lettin me". you gotta be careful cause not only can he get in trouble for sexual harrassment, your daughter will be in trouble cause she'll be the victim.
Just be careful... these kids are startin young these days...
Just keep an eye on her and let her know whats respectful and disrespectful for a young girl her age.
You're not wrong for your ways.

no you're not i think 13, 14, 15, is too young for anything as far as a relationship. but mom think back to the way you were as a young lady in her teens. mom always told me the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. what i am saying the things you did should already prepare you for the speech about the birds and the bees. tell her the truth and she have enough time to do all of that focus on the most important things in life first. I'm afraid if u try to hide life because sex is apart of life that she will step out in it too fast. and always always keep the door open for the mother and daughter talk. be honest and straight forward with her.

Whatever you do, DON'T CONTROL IT like you're some officer. It's just her way of growing up (a little prematurely I might add). All you have to do is "give her the talk" about getting involved with boys, sex, feelings, and all that stuff. Once you get it into her head about the STDs, the risks, all that stuff, I think from there she will get it through her mind that sex is a big step to take with another person and she'll know the right thing to do. It's hard I know, but she's only human just like you, and is now getting in touch with growing up.

First of all to be truly honest hugging is okay I mean if you act like its a big deal that he was behind her its going to make her want to do it more. You know(what ma don't know don't hurt) You have trust that she's not going to do anything more you know just chill on her a little bit not a lot but a little bit Plus you have to let her learn stuff like boys though life because she not really going to listen to because she think she know everything already I hope you understand what I'm saying Plus theres nothing wrong with old school you just have to up grade your self a little bit

You're right that is too young. I'm sixteen, and that is almost unacceptable in a high school environment, however, I remember seeing more of that behavior in junior high than i do now. Kids are just discovering the other gender is not "icky" at that age. They are curious, now is the time for your daughter to be on a tight leash. She is more likely to experiment now than in a few years.

I understand your concerns as a mother, but it all actually depends on each individual. If you think your daughter is mature for her age, I'd suggest giving her a bit more freedom on who she mixes with, but do keep a close eye on her. You should step in to interfere if you think the matter is getting out of hand, but don't do it too often, or your daughter will not trust you anymore. On the overall i suggest you relax just a bit. We are afterall in 2007, not in 1987...

I say just keep talking to her. Every chance you get, bring up boys, sex, STD's, teen pregnancy etc. Talk about what love means, how boys that age will say almost anything to 'get' a girl to have sex etc. ASK questions. Let her know that you are on top of this, and don't let up. As long as she knows she has to 'report' back to you, it will make it that much harder for her to be sneaky and act inappropriately. Of course, I could be totally wrong, I don't know. Also, at this age many girls become obsessed with boys, and I don't find anything wrong with that, I just think interest in boys can be confused and mistaken for 'love' and YOUR job it to bring it to a reality check.

13 year olds are usually hormoned-challenged cause they're entering their teenage years. Keep an eye on her but you can trust her because trust is very important. Tell her you trust her and that will make her aware that you are doing everything for her own good. She is probably trying to fit in to her new world and is making some wrong steps.

As hard as it is to do. you have got to trust your daughter and trust that you have taught her right. I felt the same way when my now 15 soon to be 16 yr old discovered boys.

Tell her about how boys are .... BAD! I bet my mom is still facing the same problem. You should control her until she turns 18, 19... once she can figure out who's good and safe and who is not, let her free
