Many programs listed to start at windows startup. If you remove some from the startup list, you can speed it up.

There could be a whole host of reasons that your computer is taking so long starting up. Virus Checking, scheduled hard drive defragment, large number of add on applications being started up in the system tray, wireless network card management software searching for an access point, the list can get quite extensive as to why it is happening.

Try to look in the startup section in the "msconfig". Just click "start" then "run" and then type "msconfig". There is a startup tab there .... DO NOT MESS WITH THIS SCREEN IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. But you can at least read and see what all is going on when you start up. This is a start at least.

I can't stress enough to not uncheck anything if you are not 100% sure of what your unchecking is an item you do not need. You can completely disable your laptop if you do! If you can't figure out what all those items are ... take it to a local computer store and they can hook you up in optimizing your laptop for quicker boot times.

It sounds like there's too many background processes starting up when you boot up. There's a couple ways to fix this

First - Run a spyware removal program. That should clear up a lot of small little crap that is annoying and harmful when there's lots of it. I reccomend either Spybot or Ad-Aware.

Second - Download RegClean (its free) and run that. This will clear out any registry entries no longer needed for your computer.

Third - If you're not at least semi-adept with a computer you may want some help with this one. Go into the start menu and select run. type in msconfig.exe. This will bring up a window. Select the tab that says Startup. In here is a list of all the processes that initialize when you turn on your computer and start to load windows. Uncheck anything un-necessary, then restart (it'll prompt you to restart)

That should clear up your issue

Laptops tend to generate a number of of warmth. So in case you will permit it run, you need to permit it breath. I even have mine larger on a DVD conceal or small plate to permit the air get below it to chill out. The longest it has run so some distance is 3 months using fact i exploit it as a print server and the different desktops/cyber web servers on no account get close off the two. There are additionally laptop coolers you may get with followers in them, yet once you raise the laptop and save a fan going to pass the air, you need to be high quality.

Lots of times driver conflicts can cause problems, try updating the drivers for your sound card, modem, etc... You can find them at either the manufacturer of the computer or the hardware's site. Other issues could be unneeded programs loading up (go to start > run > type in msconfig. search for msconfig recommendations in Google to see which programs you can shut off), spyware, viruses. Last option would be to backup data and do a full format and reinstallation of windows (best solution, but also lengthy).

most likely there are too many background processes running - esp advertisement ware, popups, etc if u have surfed the Net n has not done any housekeeping clearing all these junks - u will need to download Adaware from download.com and install it. then run the scan to get rid of all the ad wares... your system shuld run faster.
it could be hard drive space getting low (sine yur notebook in new - not likely but if u have been storing movies in it - then maybe) or your notebook has a small memory like 256Mb ... if u want it to zoom - go upgrade to 1 Gb ....

otherwise send it back to the vendor quickly before the garantee runs out or the shop closes down (happens often in SLQ)...

What are you loading? Game and graphics consume memory and slow down the computer.

Try losing wallpaper and screensaver, check startup and load only that which you need daily.

Regularly, run a Disk Cleanup, Scandisk and a defrag. This helps speed also.
