i was at the beach today and it was really windy at times, and noticed there was sand in my ears. i dont know if it got in the canal and i don't want to use qtips because that might push it in more. what is the best way to remove sand without trapping it inside the ear and without damaging the eardrum or causing ear infections?

If I were you, I'd go see my family doctor and have my ears washed out with their squirting device--something like a Water Pik. I couldn't stand the thought of something foreign in my ears. Too, they say that periodically, most people should have their ears cleared of excess wax build-up to better hear.
You'd be getting rid of both.

Buy "Aqua Ear."
It's like alcohol that cleans the ear canals out. It's good for keeping wax build up from forming in the ears and after showere to clean out the water that may get trapped in there.

NEVER stick a q-tip in your ear ok? The are only made for the lobes.

Please call a pharmacy and ask for this product or somthing similiar-
Good Luck!

tip your head to one side, the side with sand in it, facing down, and bang on the top side, until all sand comes out. Then, get the vacuum cleaner to get the rest, then follow up with a cue tip with alcohol.
