It's not really in which year the comic was made that makes it worth something. It's whether or not something huge happened in the comics universe, such as the introduction of a now legendary character or villain. Since it takes time for a character to become a classic legend, most of the comics that are worth something are the introductions of Superman, Spider-Man, the X-Men, etc., that all happened decades ago. That's why they're worth something, not just because they are old.
For example, the only "Amazing Spider-Man" comics that are worth anything are the first 10 or so, which introduce Spider-Man in his own comic book, then all the villains in the following ones like Doc Oc, The Vulture, etc.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" #20, let's say, if it has no significant contributions to the comic world, is worth just as much as "The Amazing Spider-Man" #350.
How rare an issue is is also a factor.
Since any new comics by definition can't have a legendary character (A legend has to withstand the test of time), and none are very rare (being new), no newer comics are really worth that much.

My standard answer is this: A comic is worth exactly what you can get someone else to pay for it.

It's true, most of the books published in the 1990s are worth very little right now, mostly because a lot of them saw huge print runs and a lot of collectors, hoping to score lots of money, bought multiple copies and hoarded them away until a time when they'd be worth a lot. But when the market collapsed around the mid-90s, a lot of stores went under because they were stuck with tonnes of merchandise they couldn't give away for free, and a lot of readers were left were multiple copies of Spawn wondering, "What now?"

But don't throw them all out yet -- as a general rule, it takes time for the market to recognize which books are the true collectibles, ie, which ones were the first appearances of certain characters or first works by certain artists. Within another 10-20 years, we'll have a better idea of which '90s books are worth something. Also, in another 10-20 years we might see fewer of those books around because some collectors will have gotten rid of them by then, and the decreased supply might help push up demand. (The only reason comics from the 1940s and '50s are so valuable today is because they're so rare... and they're rare because they weren't seen as collectibles back then, just magazines to read and toss when you're done - which many housecleaning parents did when their kids weren't looking.)

My advice: If you want to sell them, sell them for what you think they're worth. And if you still have some left over, sell them for less. Or you can go on ebay and see what your books are going for there -- if you like the auction bids you see, you can try selling them there.

But if you're not in a rush to tell, let them collect for a while. You never know what might happen in a few years, and in the meantime you'll have some good entertainment on your hands. If the '90s taught us anything, it's that the only valuable comic is the one that makes you want to read it.

Just my two cents,
M.

Most of them are not.. But if you had some titles like when Superman died or a couple of the classic Xmen, you will have some money in a few years..
