Graffiti is usually Ugly and messy. It's unpleasant to see. It's not ART!! Sometimes they make it look nice as it covers up someones wall or fence or car or house. When you do anything to property that isn't yours without permission it could be art to you but never to the owner. Graffiti people should get 100hrs of community service minimum to clean up Graffiti all over their city/town. Then maybe they won't do it again.

It's art as it's a form of creative and/or political expression.

It's vandalism because it usually is on someone else's property.

I live in a town where they had set up a wall for graffiti artists to use, and we saw less graffiti around town. And then they tore down the wall to build a high rise condo development. Needless to say, graffiti started showing up again. But the graffiti artists I know are pretty respectful of not tagging buildings that are already beautiful. They pretty much target corporations as a form of political protest and/or they try to beautify ugly objects (like light poles).

There is a fine lin between art and vandalism. Art is an effort which is expressing a creative mind. So, in some ways, graffiti is an art. Vandalism is the art of destroying someone's art. So, in some other ways, graffiti is vandalism. That means graffiti is an art of vandalism.

YES!!!!!!! I grew up in Philadelphia and went to college in NYC and to tell the truth some of the best art that I have ever seen has been scrawled on the walls of buildings. People call it defacing, but I call it art because it is a formof self expression. There are caves from pre-historic times that have paintings (which in my opinion is a form of graffiti). Graffiti is just another genre of art, which is a response to how the mind's eye reflects life.

I wouldn't consider it vandalism because some people do it and consider it art and so would I. But a lot of people abuse that right and make it look weird and ugly. But I think it's nice for a new school or something along those lines.

If its on a disused building or on a space specifically intended for grafitti then its art. But if its on a beautiful old building or bridge, then its vadalism. Theperson that built or designed the building or bridge in the first place would have put grafitti on it if they thought it needed it.

I live in Amsterdam and it sickens me when I see these amazing 17th century buildings that have been tagged. If these guys were really "artists" they would have more respect for the other artists that designed and built the buildings they are tagging.

i do consider it art. there are many people who get paid to paint a side of a building to attract peoples interests. i do like some but not much of it. but it is still a form of art. and i do consider it vandalism if permission is not granted.

i would say that graffitti is an art form of expression. There is a million ways to express yourself ,but to do something with that feeling is a sign of creativity
