Hi, I did my bachelors in the U.S.A and Masters as well over there but my PhD I got it from AUB and to tell you the truth I found that here it is much better, so I would suggest you to study in AUB or LAU but ONLY these 2 universities which I see as the best. There are another kind of universities here which I could but AUB and LAU follow the 100% right American system.
Good Luck!

I fully agree with John Smith; AUB and LAU are the two best universities in Lebanon, and they are both chartered by the University of the State of New York. However, they do not both offer the same exact academic programs. Depending on your choice of major, you will have to choose between one or the other. AUB has VERY good academic programs in Medicine, Business, Engineering and similar fields of study.
LAU, on the other hand, provides very good academic programs in Business, Social and Political Sciences, Communication Arts and so on. In fact, as a current LAU student majoring in Communication Arts with my emphasis as Journalism, I would have to say that the strongest academic department in LAU is Communication Arts.
As for the social life, it's a small and cozy university so it makes it very easy for people to make friends. The professors are also very friendly and considerate towards the students. Nevertheless, if you do get the opportunity to study in the States, take it. Take it because it's always a good thing to learn about different cultures and have diverse experiences abroad; it will only add to your knowledge and help you advance as an intellectual.
Good luck :)

Studying in North America is better and cheaper.
USA or CANADA are the best for student and have great universities.
The Diploma
I studied in Montreal (Canada) and as far as I know my diploma is much more appreciated and more valuable worldwide than a diploma from AUB or LAU.
The Cost
The cost of my studies and my living including everything (university cost and apartment cost) was much cheaper than the AUB exorbitant price.
The new culture
Studying overseas is more than education, it’s a new life style and getting to meet new people and mix with their culture and other ethnic culture is the best life experience you can ever have.
The choice is yours Good Luck.

AUB is a very good university it is accredited by a University in New York...so if you get a degree at AUB you can work in the US with no problem.
Now about universities in USA, not all are good if you're comparing to AUB...you have community college and ok colleges and Ivy league colleges. So it all depends on where you go to.
But I know lots of students from AUB who continued their masters and doctorate degrees in Ivy leagues college like Stanford and MIT

I agree with Sp!ke. I've moved a couple of times in my life, once from Lebanon to the US, where I am currently, and I'm ALWAYS excited when I get to go back to Lebanon. Lebanon feels more like home than anywhere else. Yes, moving is hard and you will miss your friends, but you'll get over it soon, trust me. Life in Lebanon is quite different from the US, and so are the schools, but you will learn to embrace its uniqueness as a country. It is so vibrant and beautiful. It will not effect your chances of getting into a good college, but don't go to a college in Lebanon. Lebanon is great, but you might face some difficulty getting a job in the US if you go to a Lebanese college. American colleges will be quite impressed by the fact that you lived in Lebanon, actually. They love diversity :) The 3-4 years I spent in Lebanon truly changed me... I never expected much when I moved there, but I've learned so much about myself and my culture living there.

It is not just about the system, it is also about the activities and the socializing...American Universities, not colleges, are absolutely the best..you learn a lot, not just books, but real life >> God bless the USA!

Never been to Lebanon, but I know a lot of folks from there. I'd have to try it to say.
& of course, the kibbeh, hommus & tabouli are always a tasty side dish to the whole thing!

if you can stay inLebanon, it is better. and you save money and heartache.
We should not encourage people to leave and the standard at AUB is excellent.
