Try switching the Hold switch to on, then off again, then hold down the center button and the menu button at the same time until the apple logo comes up.
Hope that works!

I have five ways:
1) Did you check if it was "HOLD"?
2) On the music to the loudest which drain the battery faster ;
3) Leave it on forever;
4) Go to the retail outlet and have it fixed if it is still under warranty;
5) Smash your iPod.

try reseting it..

hold down the center and menu button for about 7 seconds.

it wont take anything off of the iPod..just resets it..
