I think he should be arested. Dipping can be punishable by law for a fine up to $100,0000 or 5 years in prison.

Fired for dip??? Isn't that a bit extreme? Smoking is banned in most restaurants for others' health.. dipping doesn't do that. I don't think that it is a big of a problem as stealing, tardiness, absence, etc...

If at all, the employee should be informally notified (verbal warning) that dipping at work isn't acceptable... If it's restaurant policy. Otherwise, it's just a problem that you have to ignore. We all have to ignore stuff at some point.

Dipping - as in snuff? Oh my... It is, of course, up to the manager whether he will enforce any rules about tobacco at work - if there is a rule about dipping.

depends on the rules ate work.. i think he should be warned ..
then fired, thats what breaks are for ... but then where i used to work the supervisors dipped and so did some of the workers.. honestly i wouldnt make a big deal out of it because if you seen what happens to peoples mouth
who dipped , thats a bad enough punishment

maybe not fired but the manager should at least talk to him about to make sure it doesnt happen again. its just as bad as lighting up on the job and not very professional even if the restaurant was closed

What does "dipping" mean?

Does that mean he was stealing tips?

If so, yes he should get fired!

That's theft - even if it's not the boss' money, it's still money he's responsible for and it belongs to his co-workers not to him!

Dipping? Meaning stealing tips? Talk to your boss, if he/she does nothing about it then find another job. Your there to make money. One time I was a waitress and they kept giving me crappy areas, where they would usually seat the elderly of overflow if they got buisey. They rarely got buisey. I warned them once to be fair and give out customers evenly and to stop putting me in blue haired areas all the time.(they had their favorites that always got the same areas) They didn't so I went up to them and said "I'm here to make money, I quit." They begged me to stay lol. But I do not put up w/ poor management and niether should you.

If the use of tobacco products while on the clock is not allowed, yes.

If not, then, no, because it's not against the rules, it's just hella - gross.

Of course he should. Having someone in the work force that is not honest makes you think what he could do with you. Even if no one saw I would say something

he should get a written warning if he hasn't already had one..I've worked in restaurants where people should've been fired but weren't..managers seem to turn a blind eye, whether it's because staff are so hard to find and train,or it's just easier to "let it go". It doesn't seem fair though!!!
