I would like to provider baby slings to low income moms in need. But I have no idea how to do this. Any ideas on how to find slings no longer in use or how to get materials donated to the cause?

Good idea!

Around here you can apply for a community grant - 50-500 bucks for a project that benefits the community. Ask at a community centre or neighbourhood house, if you have those. Or check with municipal government websites.

Write up a plan. Contact an organization that's fairly well known, that provides other things to families in need. Get them on board; they may have other ideas to assist you.

Post on Craigslist.

Post at second hand stores.

Go to fabric stores and ask them for donations of fabric or discounts in exchange for having their name associated with the project.

Go to thrift shops, sometimes they have fabric.

Good luck!
